Did you know that chairs were for standing?  Posted by Picasa

This is why Dermot's chairs and table are in the basement. He would carry his chairs to places he wanted to climb. One day I found him starting to get on the chair right in front of the gate at the top of the stairs. I threw the chair down the stairs, and Ethan put everything in the basement. We need to bring them back out someday, but I just can't stand worrying about that stuff.

what is it with kids and standing on things? bella does the same thing. luckily for us, as for you, the table and chairs are in a room with a door so that there's no dermot-y stuff going on with gates and steps.

My 22 month old likes to stand on his rocking chair at times (SCARY!), but he was more interested in doing that when he was Noah's age. I don't see him do it much anymore. Must be a development thing!

um, apparently you guys aren't short and don't understand the importance of gaining chair standing ability early in life.
